MAASAI MARKETPLACE TERMS OF SERVICE
1.0 Seller Account and Verification Policy
All sellers on Maasai Marketplace are required to maintain a valid payment account to track payments, refunds, and transaction fees.
Sellers must provide accurate personal and business information during registration and are responsible for keeping it up to date.
Sellers are strictly prohibited from impersonating another person or using names or identities they are not legally authorized to use.
By registering, sellers grant Maasai Marketplace and its authorized agents permission to verify their details using public records or credit reports to ensure platform integrity.
These verification measures are essential to protect our community against fraud, money laundering, and violations of trade or financial regulations.
2.0 Fees and Payment Policy
Some services on Maasai Marketplace may attract fees. This Fees and Payments Policy explains how these fees and related taxes are charged and collected.
By opening a shop or listing items on Maasai Marketplace, sellers agree to this policy and the platform’s general Terms of Use.
2.1 Transaction Fees
For every successful sale made through the Maasai Marketplace platform:
- A 10% transaction fee is charged on the product’s listed price (excluding shipping costs).
- The listed price must already include any applicable taxes.
- If the product includes optional personalization or add-ons, the additional charge will be included in the total sale amount subject to the same transaction fee.
Maasai Marketplace also applies commission rates as follows:
- Retail Orders: 10%
- Wholesale Orders: 15%
- Sellers may optionally access production advance funding subject to an additional 2–7% fee.
All transaction fees and commissions are automatically deducted from the seller’s balance as sales occur and reflected in the payment account.
3.0 Terms and Conditions of Sale
3.1 Nature of Transactions
- The marketplace acts as an online venue that connects sellers with buyers.
- Maasai Marketplace facilitates binding sales on behalf of sellers but is not a direct party to any transaction between the buyer and seller.
- A binding contract between buyer and seller is established once a buyer confirms a purchase through the platform.
3.2 Seller Responsibilities
The seller’s business terms apply to the contract, subject to the following conditions:
- Product prices must be clearly stated in the listing and inclusive of all taxes.
- Any additional charges (delivery, packaging, insurance, or administrative fees) must be explicitly disclosed in the listing.
- Products must be of acceptable quality, safe, fit for purpose, and match the description provided.
- Sellers must have full ownership rights to the products and ensure that they are free of third-party claims, intellectual property disputes, or legal encumbrances.
3.3 Role of Maasai Marketplace
- Maasai Marketplace does not confirm the identity, creditworthiness, or reputation of all users.
- The platform does not verify or guarantee the accuracy of all listing information.
- Maasai Marketplace is not an agent for either buyer or seller and assumes no liability arising from transactions.
- The platform merely facilitates the exchange and processes payments on behalf of sellers.
3.4 Limitation of Liability
Maasai Marketplace:
- Does not guarantee the completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of marketplace content.
- Does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the platform.
- May modify, suspend, or discontinue services at any time without prior notice and without compensation.
- Provides no assurance of commercial success or sales outcomes through the use of the marketplace.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, all warranties, representations, and liabilities relating to marketplace use are excluded.
